CADRI-supported Capacity Diagnosis Process Starts in Senegal amid the COVID-19 Pandemic

Responding to the Government's request, the CADRI Partnership has customized the capacity diagnosis methodology that will inform the development of the National Strategy for Disaster Risk Reduction, supported by the World Bank.

The workshop to launch the development of the National Disaster Risk Reduction Strategy took place in Dakar from 1-2 December. Some 50 experts from the Government, the UN Country Team and UN Regional Offices covering the Western and Central Africa region received training on the CADRI methodology to guide the capacity diagnosis as the first step in the strategy development process. In the course of December, the diagnosis team held consultations with 20 state institutions and international organizations. In an effort to adapt the methodology to the COVID-19 context, some of the consultations were done virtually.

In January 2021, five sub-teams will continue to carry out consultations with the remaining institutions at the central level, and with sub-national Government representatives in four selected regions.
