In Serbia, approximately 322,000 people live in urban or rural settlements that are prone to flooding. Floods occur most frequently in the Vojvodina region. Drought became increasingly frequent in the last two decades and is most prevalent in the eastern part of the country. Wildfires are frequent and widespread in Serbia during the summer season. Serbia also registers frequent and strong seismic activity. As in the rest of the Western Balkans, climate change is expected to amplify exposure to floods and droughts.
