The CADRI Partnership has a long history of engagement in Western and Central Africa with 13 countries having received support from the CADRI Partners to date. Those include Benin, Burkina Faso, CDI, Chad, Ghana, Guinea (Conakry), Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Sao Tome & Principe, The Gambia and Togo.
Under the leadership of IOM and FAO regional offices assuming the CADRI hosting function for the Western and Central Africa region, the CADRI Partners organized a two day workshop in Dakar on 28-29 January. The workshop provided an update on the CADRI Partnership regionalization and new offer of capacity development services and trained participants on the CADRI methodology and approach to capacity development. A simulation of a CADRI assessment mission took place.
A key workshop result was the 2020 CADRI Partnership Regional Workplan for Western and Central Africa.
The workshop was opened by the regional directors of FAO and IOM and gathered a total of 46 participants from 17 different organizations including UN agencies, the IFRC, the EU and NGOs. The workshop was facilitated by a team of 11 CADRI practitioners from the regional offices of deployed CADRI members, the CADRI Secretariat, as well as IOM and FAO Regional CADRI Facilitators.
